Rides

I heard from an OCW member that there are still about 130 openings to ride the Amtrak Century from Irvine to San Diego. These are the openings that include the return train trip. All bikes are transported back to Irvine by truck and each is blanket covered. They even rent the blankets for this ! If you go on the ride you can take a cooler with drinks of anything you choose, and it and will be dropped off in Irvine and you retrieve in San Diego to PU before boarding the train.The route allows either traveling thru Pendleton base if you fill out the online application on the OCW website, or if not travel on the Fwy 5 to Harbor drive exit at Oceanside. I note that the route can be shorted by 10 miles or so at the beginning if elected. It travels around Irvine for extra mileage which could be eliminated if chosen.
